This course discusses the different animal cell and tissue types, and introduces histology in connection to cell biology, physiology and anatomy. Although the course studies tissues on a microscopic level, it strives to make the connection between structure and function.

While much of the time in the laboratory specifically focuses on the identification and characterization of different animal cells and tissues, the course also introduces students to tissue processing and slide preparation through an independent project.
