I am Ola Muhammad Abu-Rajouh, and my academic journey began with a Bachelor’s Degree in Archaeology, specializing in Ancient History, from the University of Jordan in 1996, where I graduated with a GPA of 3.82/4. I then pursued a Master’s Degree in the same field at the University of Jordan, completing it in 1999 with a perfect GPA of 4/4.
Professional Experience
I started my teaching career as a lecturer in social sciences with the Arab Cultural Association from 1996 to 2005. During this time, I also lectured in Modern History of Jordan at Ammon University (part time) . My initial experience in university teaching began as a teaching assistant and supervisor of archaeological excavations at the University of Jordan from 1996 to 1997.
My career expanded when I became Head of Planning and Evaluation in the Cultural Department at the Greater Amman Municipality from 2008 to 2010. Later, I served as Country Manager for the START Organization (2011-2014), where I organized training workshops for youth in orphan centers, special needs centers, and Palestinian camps.
In 2014, I joined Qatar University as a teaching assistant in the Humanities Department, focusing on history courses, particularly the History of Qatar, while providing academic support across various history courses. From 2015 to 2016, I also served as a lecturer and coordinator for the UNIV110 course in the College of Arts and Sciences. Currently, I am an instructor in the Core Curriculum Program, where I have been teaching UNIV100 since Fall 2020 and UNIV220 since Fall 2022.
My teaching philosophy is focused on fostering a supportive and interactive learning environment that helps students build confidence, develop critical thinking, and enhance essential life skills. I encourage active participation, teamwork, and personal growth, aiming to prepare students for both academic and professional success.
I strive to meet students’ diverse needs by using varied teaching methods and connecting learning to real-world contexts. By setting clear expectations and providing transparent feedback, I ensure students feel valued and motivated, helping them achieve their goals confidently and independently.
In terms of professional development:
- I have always been keen, since the beginning of my time at the university, to develop my academic skills in a way that sharpens my abilities and benefits my students. I have attended or participated in more than (200) professional development workshops both within the university and outside of it.
