The overall aim of this project is to develop an energy-efficient, operationally simple and robust MBR technology that can expedite the reuse of industrial effluents for irrigation duties within the State of Qatar. The technical component is based on experimental work using slowly vibrating membranes to suppress the natural clogging propensity of the sludge. Outputs thus far have comprised:

• a review of the use of mechanical shear in membrane separations.
