My research interests focus on cardiovascular diseases and, more specifically, endothelial dysfunction, inflammatory reactions, thrombosis, and biomarkers discovery. Other areas of interest include cancer biology, nanomedicine, plant medicine, and toxicological studies using cellular and animal models, including Zebrafish. My experimental approaches include molecular and pharmacological tools with freshly isolated and cultured cells and relevant pre-clinically animal models. I have participated in many basic, translational, and clinical research with Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) and Weill Cornell Medicine in Qatar and collaborated with key-international scientists at Montreal Heart Institute-Canada, University of Sassari-Italy,  Imperial College-London, and the American University of Beirut-Lebanon. Since joining Qatar University, I have received several extramural and intramural grants and possess more than 31 peer-reviewed publications in international journals and contributed to numerous abstracts and presentations at national and international meetings. I serve on the Editorial Board of the Cardiovascular Biologics and Regenerative Medicine, a specialty of Frontiers in Cardiovascular Medicine.
