I Have represented Qatar University at MWC Doha by giving a talk titled “Beyond the “Red Pen”: Automated Arabic Essay Scoring for the Next Generation” on the research my group is conducting to advance the state of the art of Arabic Automated Essay Scoring (AES) to support the education of the next generation. The talk covers:

⭐ Conducting research on several novel frameworks to score different writing traits (e.g., organization, style, development, etc.) besides providing an overall (holistic) score
⭐ Building the first prototype Web application for Arabic AES.
⭐ Leveraging national resources, e.g., Fanar
⭐ Optimizing our models to establish state-of-the-art performance
⭐ Organizing TAQEEM: the first research competition on Arabic AES.
⭐ Empowering the local talent of QU students: Sohaila Eltanbouly, Salam Albatarni 🍉, May Bashendy, Marwan Sayed, and Hoor Elbahanasawi
This work is funded by Qatar Research, Development and Innovation (QRDI) Council in collaboration with Houda Bouamor, PhD at Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar, Walid Massoud at QU Testing Center and Ministry of Education and Higher Education Qatar.
