Biography

Dr. Ziad Nasr is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the College of Pharmacy, Qatar University, with over a decade of experience in the Clinical Pharmacy and Practice Department. He holds numerous publications and serves on editorial boards, including the American Journal of Pharmaceutical Education (AJPE). Dr. Nasr’s primary research focuses on infectious diseases and antimicrobial stewardship (AMS), particularly AMS education and promoting judicious antimicrobial use across various healthcare settings. He is also deeply engaged in advancing OSCEs, clinical competencies, and pharmacy education.


Dr. Nasr earned his PharmD from the Lebanese American University, completing part of his clinical training at Houston Methodist Hospital, Texas, USA. At Qatar University, he serves as the OSCE Lead and is the Coordinator for Undergraduate Training, overseeing the Structured Practical Experiences in Pharmacy (SPEP) experiential learning program to ensure students achieve core competencies. He is a Board-Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist and Infectious Disease Pharmacist, certified by the Board of Pharmacy Specialties in the USA. Additionally, he holds a cross-appointment as a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist in the Infectious Diseases Department at Hamad General Hospital, where he precepts PharmD students.


In his teaching, Dr. Nasr specializes in pharmacotherapy, integrated case-based learning, and professional skills. He has secured multiple grants from Qatar University and external funding agencies to support his research, which also extends into oncology, supportive care, and various aspects of pharmacy education. His commitment to clinical pharmacy practice and AMS initiatives is evident in his ongoing contributions to both academia and the healthcare field in the region.
