Dr. Yousra Soliman is associate Prof. of marine environmental sciences at Qatar University. She obtained her Ph.D. in Oceanography from Texas A&M University- College Station working on deep-sea ecology and ecotoxicology. She obtained a postdoctoral fellowship from Texas Institute of Oceanography in Galveston during 2008-2010.

Her research is interdisciplinary looking at a broad, inclusive and a well developed prospective for understanding biogeochmical processes in the ocean. She has been applying holistic approach to understand the effect of environmental perturbations on different geochemical processes, using benthic communities as a tool, in different marginal seas including the Mediterranean sea, the Gulf of Mexico and the Arabian Gulf.
