Qatar University

* 2014 to 2016 – Head of Department of Architecture and Urban Planning, College of Engineering, Qatar University, Qatar. Responsibilities included:

  • NAAB Accreditation final visit for Substantial Equivalency
  • Chair regular department meetings and committees
  • Strategic Planning and reporting
  • Preparation of budget and department expenditures
  • Recruitment and hiring of staff
  • Students advising and acceptance
  • Participate in college meetings and committees
  • Scholarships and missions

* 2011 to 2014 – Coordinator of Master of Urban Planning and Design Program and Ph.D. in Architecture and Urban Planning program at QU. Responsibilities included:

  • Monitor students progress and developed students study plans.
  • Chair regular meetings and coordination between courses and faculty members.
  • Prepare Quality Assurance documents and reports.
  • Perform marketing activities including public lectures, participation in CENG Graduate Studies Open Days, newspapers articles, visits to governmental agencies and private offices.
  • Advise master students regarding final thesis preparations and requirements.
  • Communicate with possible candidates to apply for the program.
  • Follow up textbooks order.
  • Review admission applications and interview applicants.

* Chair Research and Graduate Studies Committee

  • Review and establish Honors Program requirements
  • Organization of Research Workshop* Curriculum and NAAB Accreditation Committee

  • Responsibilities include review curriculum, establish contact with NAAB, initiated the accreditation process at Qatar University and preparation of NAAB accreditation request. Activities include:
  • Preparation of accreditation request, course descriptions and faculty CVs according to NAAB format.
  • Preparation of NAAB Matrix according to the 32 Student Performance Criteria.

  • Preparation of Program Learning Outcomes Matrix and Quality Assurance Strategy and Forms.

* Design Courses Committee:

  • Coordinate activities of design courses teaching, projects, juries, etc.
  • Developed guidelines and criteria for teaching design courses.
  • Developed and coordinated the Graduation Project teaching activities and documentation.

* Undergraduate Program Committee (UPC), coordinator:

  • Responsibilities include review curriculum, suggest modifications and changes. Updated curriculum under the supervision of – NAAB to included 5 new compulsory courses that received department approvals to execute the changes in 2007-2008 academic year. Submitted the required paper work to the college and university committee to approve changes for implementation of the new curriculum.- Preparation of APR, course files and exhibition.- Presentation of current program curriculum and proposed modifications.- Coordinated activities of design courses teaching, projects, juries, etc.- Developed and coordinated the Graduation Project teaching activities and documentation.Graduate Program Committee member:
  • Participated in the development of the Master Program curriculum and courses.
  • Wrote a document titled “Design Courses and Studios Manual” posted on the internet to be accessible to students and faculty members.
  • Developed guidelines and criteria for teaching design courses.

  • Preparation of NAAB Matrix according to the 37 Student Performance Criteria.
  • Established contact with NAAB, initiated the accreditation process at Kuwait University and participated in the NAAB preliminary and final accreditation visit preparations.
