Biography

Tarik Al-Diery is a Lecturer in Clinical Pharmacy and Practice at Qatar University and a clinical pharmacy preceptor at Hamad Medical Corporation. He completed his Bachelor of Pharmacy at the University of Auckland and postgraduate qualifications in clinical pharmacy at the University of Otago. His clinical career has spanned several major tertiary healthcare institutions across New Zealand, Australia, and Qatar, including Middlemore Hospital in Auckland and Alfred Health in Melbourne, where he worked as a specialist clinical pharmacist in intensive care while contributing to undergraduate experiential education.

Tarik holds a Master of Clinical Pharmacy from the University of Otago and a PhD from Adelaide University. His research sits at the intersection of clinical pharmacy and health professions education, with a particular focus on competency development, entrustment, entrustable professional activities, workplace-based learning, and the transition of learners toward increasingly autonomous clinical practice. He has published extensively across these areas in international peer-reviewed pharmacy and health professions education journals, with his work contributing to the growing evidence base surrounding workplace-based training and entrustment in pharmacy practice.

Alongside his research, Tarik is actively involved in the education, assessment, and clinical supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate pharmacy learners and has a strong interest in advancing learner-centred and workplace-based approaches to clinical education. Outside pharmacy and academia, he is an avid mountaineer and has climbed summits across several countries.
