Dr. Shaligram Pokharel is a Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering since May 2013. He joined Qatar University in August 2010. Prior to his appointment in Qatar University, Dr. Shaligram worked in Nanyang Technological University, as an Assistant Professor from June 2000 to October 2005 and as Associate Professor from October 2005 to July 2010. Dr. Shaligram also worked in a Mechanical Engineering company and with the Government of Nepal prior to joining academics.

Dr. Shaligram holds B.E. (Mechanical Engineering) with Honors from the Regional Engineering College, Kashmir (University of Kashmir), M.A.Sc. and PhD in Systems Design Engineering from the University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada.

Dr. Shaligram has research focus on engineering management area. He has done research in  logistics and supply chain, energy planning and modeling, and project management. He has published several papers in these areas. He has also obtained Best Paper Awards in a journal and a conference.
