Catalog Description
An introductory course to human biology, it covers principles of structure and function of human body such as digestion, circulatory system, blood, respiration, nervous system, muscles, endocrine system & others. Principles of human genetics, human development and aging. These systems are approached through an understanding of their functioning in the healthful condition followed by examples of the common disease conditions. This course is learner-centric, digitally enriched, entrepreneurial, and research-informed through the use of various online learning platforms and resources.
Course Objectives
1- Analyze the structure and function of cells, tissues, and human body systems and their relationships
2- Compare the role of each body system in maintaining homeostasis
3- Assess real-life cases using learned concepts
Course Learning outcomes
1- Relate the cell structure to the function of tissues and organs of the human body
2- Determine the key elements and functions involved in maintaining body homeostasis
3- Infer on the interactions between the organ systems in regulating body functions
4- Identify key impacts of organ systems dysregulation on human health
5- Apply learned concepts to solve real-life problems related to human health
