الدكتورة مريم الكواري، أستاذ مساعد في العلاقات الدولية بقسم الشؤون الدولية، كلية الآداب والعلوم. حاصلة على درجة البكالوريوس في الشؤون الدولية من جامعة قطر عام 2012، ودرجة الماجستير في دراسات الشرق الاوسط بجامعة (SOAS) للدراسات الشرقية والأفريقية – لندن عام 2015، ودرجة دكتوراه في معهد الدراسات العربية والإسلامية بجامعة اكستر في عام 2021.

بدأت حياتها الأكاديمية قبل حصولها على درجة الدكتوراه، كمساعد في التدريس بقسم الشؤون الدولية، كلية الآداب والعلوم، جامعة قطر عام 2013، ومن ثم درجة محاضر في عام 2015 حيث عملت على تدريس عدد من المقررات (دراسات الخليج، الثقافة والسياسة وموضوعات خاصة) ومساعدة أعضاء هيئة التدريس في اعداد الدراسات والأبحاث المتخصصة بمنطقة الخليج.

في عام 2023، حصلت الدكتورة مريم على منحة بحثية في إطار برنامج تمويل المنح التعاونية أنشطة بحثية من خلال العمل في مجموعات بحثية تعاونية مع أعضاء من تخصصات مختلفة. كما شاركت بحوثها في عدد من المؤتمرات المحلية والدولية، ولديها عدد من الإصدارات البحثية باللغتين العربية والانجليزية وتتركز اهتماماتها البحثية في علم الاجتماع السياسي، وبناء الدولة، والفواعل ما دون الدولة في منطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال أفريقيا ومنطقة الخليج.

الى جانب العمل الأكاديمي، تولت الدكتورة مريم الكواري عدد من المناصب الإدارية، كمنسق أكاديمي بقسم الشؤون الدولية في عام 2022، ومدير مساعد لبرنامج متطلبات الجامعة بعمادة الدراسات العامة 2023، كما ترأست وشاركت عدد من اللجان على مستوى قسم الشؤون الدولية، ومستوى كلية الآداب والعلوم، جامعة قطر.

 Maryam Al-Kuwari is Director of Gulf Studies Center and Assistant Professor of International Relations at International Affairs Department, Qatar University. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Affairs from Qatar University in 2012, a Master’s degree in Middle East Politics from SOAS, University of London and a PhD from the Institute of Arab and Islamic Studies at the University of Exeter in 2021.

Before PhD degree, Dr. Maryam began her academic career as a teaching assistant in International Affairs Department, College of Arts and Sciences in 2013, and later became a lecture in 2015, where she has been teaching various courses (Gulf Studies, Culture & Politics and Special Topics) and assisting faculty in research about the Gulf region.

In 2023, Dr. Maryam received a research grant as part of the Cooperative Research Group with members from different disciplines. She has also presented her research at several local and international conferences and has several research publications in both Arabic and English. Her research interests are in political sociology, state building and non-state actors (or other-used terminologies for these clusters of states, societies and actors) in MENA and Gulf region.

Beside her academic work, Dr. Maryam has held several administrative positions, such as Academic coordinator of the International Affairs Department in 2022, and Associate Director of Core Curriculum Program, Deanship of General Studies in 2023. She has also chaired and participated in various committees at the level of the International Affairs Department and the College of Arts and Sciences.
