Research Interest: Assistive Learning Technology, Multimedia, Big Data Analytic on AV, Ontology, Information Engineering.

Dr. Jihad is a full professor of computer science and engineering since 2006. He has been working with the Shafallah center since 2008. He gained reach experience in developing tools and systems for children with learning disability. He secured several NPRP and UREP grants for a total amount $3.25Million. Relevant research project are: “NPRP 09-052-5-003, Towards a Tutorial Based System to Assist Qatari Children with Mild Intellectual and Learning Disabilities” “UREPs An Augmentative Communication System to Assist Qatari people with disability; A Picture-Based Communication System for Non-Verbal Qataris Children with Autism. The LeadPI has around 20 years of teaching and research experiences. He published 130 papers in computing and information technology in conference proceedings, scientific books, and international journals. He was involved in other NPRP project on pattern recognition and knowledge extraction for a budget of $1.8Millions. The LeadPI supervised 8 Masters and 4 PhDs completed. He is currently supervising three full time PhD students at Qatar University. The LeadPI has already collaborated with three PIs involved in this project. He also won the best ACM TOMM paper of the year 2015 (http://tomm.acm.org/pdf/NG_Award_2015_PressRelease.pdf). The PI-1 was a PI in the previous NPRP project.
