Idries M. Al-Jarrah is Professor of Finance at Qatar University. He holds an BA degree in accounting from Yarmouk University in Jordan), an MBA degree in Accounting from The University of Jordan, and an MA and Ph.D. degrees in Banking and Finance from the University of Wales, UK.  Prior to joining joining the University of Qatar, Idries worked for the Central Bank of Jordan during the period 1990-2004 and then joined the University of Jordan as a professor of finance over the period 2004-2012. Idries has taught several courses in banking and finance at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, worked as a supervisor and a discussant of graduate students’ projects and theses. His primary area of interest focuses on banking sectors in the emerging markets particularly in the Middle East, with a focus on their structure and efficiency. Furthermore, his interests also include stock market analysis and corporate governance. He has published over 20 research papers in various national and international refereed journals in these areas and served as a reviewer for many national international refereed Journals.
