The following are contributions to the courses and innovations in teaching:

  1. Introduction of publisher-provided web-based supplement system to the Financial Accounting course in an effort to underscore information technology innovations in the classroom. The aim was to intensively engage students outside of class and to create a blended learning environment. The system allowed for flexibility in learning and, more importantly, it afforded students with formative assessment by providing continuous and instant feedback.
  2. Introduction of lecture capturing technology into the classroom for various courses. Each lecture was video recorded and then made available on Blackboard that same day. Students were able to view the full recorded video of the lecture or fast-forward to parts that they perhaps missed in class. Most importantly, students were able to log on and access this material from virtually anywhere – students that were sick in the hospitable were able to follow along with their peers without having to fall behind.
  3. Implementation of a flipped classroom approach in Intermediate Accounting 2. The underlying motive to utilize this approach was to address deficiencies in student problem-solving skills as indicated in the assessment results of student learning outcomes. This innovative pedagogical method had a profound impact on all aspects of the course by shifting the focus from a teaching-centered paradigm to a learner-centered paradigm.
