Welcome to the webpage of Prof. Fayçal BENSAALI


Prof. Bensaali obtained obtained a Dipl-Ing (M.Eng.) in electronics from University of Constantine and a PhD in Electronic and Computer Engineering from Queen’s University, Belfast in 2005. In completing his PhD, he carried out successful research in the design and implementation of hardware architectures for a range of algorithms for image processing applications. He is currently a Professor of Electrical Engineering at Qatar University. Prof. Bensaali took other academic positions at the University of Hertfordshire-UK and Queen’s University Belfast-UK. At the University of Hertfordshire, Prof. Bensaali worked with high technology companies. He has been awarded a number of grants from government and industry and has published more than 100 publications during his career to date in the area of embedded systems and high performance computing, custom computing using FPGAs, image and vision systems and connected health. He has successfully supervised many PhD, MPhil and MSc students. He serves as  guest editor, tutorial co-chair, session chair and program committee member to many Journals and conferences (e.g. IEEE Internet of Things Journal, Journal of Sensor and Actuator Networks ). Prof. Bensaali is also a regular reviewer for a number of international journals and conferences (e.g. IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems for Video Technology, Journal of Real-Time Image Processing- Springer, EURASIP Journal on Image and Video Processing, IEEE Workshop on Embedded Computer Vision, IEEE GCC conference, ACS/IEEE International Conference on Computer Systems and Applications, International Conference on Information Science, Signal Processing and their Applications, IEEE International Conference on Electronics Circuits and Systems).

He is a senior IEEE member and Associate Member of the Higher Education Academy. His research interests include: eembedded systems and high performance computing, custom computing using FPGAs, image and vision systems and connected health.
