Short Biography

Cagatay Catal obtained his BSc and MSc degrees in Computer Engineering from Istanbul Technical University in 2002 and 2004, respectively. He later pursued his Ph.D. in Computer Engineering at Yildiz Technical University in Istanbul, completing it in 2008. From 2020 to 2021, he held the position of Full Professor in the Department of Computer Engineering at Bahcesehir University in Istanbul. Prior to that, he spent two years as a full-time faculty member at Wageningen University & Research (WUR) in the Netherlands. Before his time at WUR, Dr. Catal worked for six years in the Department of Computer Engineering at Istanbul Kultur University, where he served as an Associate Professor and Head of the Department. In April 2014, he was awarded the title of Associate Professor by the Inter-University Council of Turkey. Before entering the academic field, Dr. Catal had 8 years of experience at the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK), Information Technologies Institute, where he held the positions of Senior Researcher, Project Manager, and Senior Software Engineer. His research interests encompass various areas, including Artificial Intelligence, Deep Learning, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Software Engineering, Software Testing, Software Architecture, and Precision Agriculture.
