Dr. Abdelbaki Benamor is a Research Professor in Gas Processing Centre (GPC) at Qatar University, with a Chemical Engineering background). Dr. Benamor is among the top researchers in Environmental Engineering in Qatar with more than twenty years’ experience in academic and industrial research and development. His research addresses the fundamental and technical issues related to energy, water and environment. His research interest includes development of novel efficient technologies for CO2 capture from natural and flue gases and conversion it into valuable products using thermal and electrochemical processes; treatment of wastewater and produced water using novel adsorbents and advanced membrane processes; development of innovative electrochemical techniques for heavy metals detection in water bodies, He has successfully secured more than 4.8 million $ as research and industry grants in collaboration with international recognized institutions in Europe, Asia and North America. Dr Benamor has authored and co-authored considerably more than 120 articles in Scopus journals. Currently, his h-index is 43 (6559 citations) according to Google Scholar. In recognition of his contributions to his services, he was awarded Qatar University services award in 2016.
