Dr Ali Salman Saleh is a Professor of Economics at the College of Business & Economics, Qatar University. Dr. Saleh has also previously held various permanent academic positions in Australia at Swinburne University of technology, Victoria University, University of Wollongong and Monash University (Sunway Campus). He has also held many administrative and services roles at various universities including the Coordinator for Postgraduate studies by research and the School Research Coordinator of the School of Economics and Finance, Victoria University, Australia. He was also an elected member at the University Research committee, Notre Dame University, Louaize, Lebanon. Dr. Saleh has also served as an elected representative member of the school of Economics and Finance on the Board of Studies, Faculty of Business and Law, Victoria University, Australia. At Monash University (Sunway Campus), Dr. Saleh was elected as Vice President – Monash University Sunway Academic Staff Association and was also the Honours Program Coordinator at the School of Business.
He completed his Honours Masters in Commerce and PhD in Economics at the University of Wollongong, Australia. Dr. Saleh has supervised (as leading supervisor) till completion many Ph.D. students in Australia and made important contributions to research in the areas of applied economics, tourism economics and SMEs. He has also published in reputable international refereed journals such as Current Issues in Tourism, International Journal of Tourism Research, Tourism Analysis, Journal of Policy Modeling, Australian Economic Papers, Applied Economics Letters, Singapore Economic Review, Asia pacific Journal of Economics and Business, Studies in Economics and Finance and among others. Additionally, Dr. Saleh has served as a business consultant on a number of occasions to various private businesses in Australia and in the Gulf region. He is currently working on a number of internal (Qatar University Grant) and external projects (NPRP-9 grant from Qatar National Research Fund) on improving export performance and exploring market opportunities for various organizations.
