Dr. Anton Popelka is researcher at Center for Advanced Materials of Qatar University from 2013 . He defended his PhD thesis called “Surface and adhesive properties of polyethylene functionalized by barrier and radio-frequency plasma discharge” in 2012 at Polymer Institute of Slovak Academy of Sciences. His present research is focused on the surface modification of different type of materials by atmospheric and low-temperature pressure plasma techniques, especially applicable in packaging and biomedical applications. To this present, Dr. Anton Popelka is author of 2 book’s chapters and 11 papers in peer-reviewed journals having good response from the research community, while the papers have been cited 50 times. Moreover, Dr. Anton also participated in many international conferences and symposiums (about 30) presenting results from his research work. In 2014, he was leading principal investigator in the Undergraduate Research Experience Program project awarded by Qatar National Research Foundation (QNRF) focused on the improvement of adhesive properties between polyethylene and aluminum using corona discharge. Worth mentioning is also his participation in the Outreach Committee and Student Engagement Committee at Center for Advanced Materials of Qatar University.
