Prof. Abdulilah Dawoud Bani-Yaseen is a professor of Physical Chemistry at the Department of Chemistry and Earth Sciences. He received his BSc in Chemistry in 1998 from Al-Yarmouk University, MSc in Applied Chemistry in 2001 from Jordan University of Science and Technology, and PhD in Physical Chemistry (major)/ Biochemistry (minor) in 2006 from Iowa State University of Science and Technology, USA. Following a postdoctoral work at Virginia Bioinformatics Institute at Virginia Tech, USA, working on developing microfluidic platforms interfaced with mass spectrometry for proteomics analysis, he joined the chemistry faculty at Taibah University, Saudi Arabia, in 2007 as assistant professor. Prof. Bani-Yaseen was promoted to associate professor in 2012. In 2013, Prof. Bani-Yaseen joined Qatar University as associate professor, where he was promoted to full professor in Physical Chemistry in 2018. Prof. Bani-Yaseen’s recent research activities are focused on investigating the effects of the molecular microenvironments on the physicochemical properties and performance of various pharmaceutical materials as well as homogeneous and nanomaterials-heterogenized molecular catalysis via employing various aspects of molecular spectroscopy and computational chemistry.
