Dr. Adel Elgharbawy is an associate professor of accounting in the college of Business and Economics at Qatar University. He worked as a senior lecturer in accounting and finance in Westminster Business School-London. Dr. Adel obtained his PhD from Brunel University London, where he was working as a lecturer in Accounting before joining the University of Westminster-London. He also worked as assistant lecturer in Alexandria University, where he obtained his Bachelor and Masters Degrees, and he is currently on leave form Alexandria University-Egypt.
His extensive experience was developed over more than 25 years of teaching accounting and finance modules at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. His teaching expertise is primarily in the areas of management accounting, financial accounting, financial reporting and analysis, management accounting, and corporate governance. His research focuses on corporate governance & corporate social responsibility, management and environmental accounting, accounting education, risk management, and Islamic banking and finance. He has presented his research in international conferences and published his work in international refereed journals such as Mediatari Accounting Research, Journal of Accounting Research, Corporate Governance, Accounting Education, and Journal of Enterprise Information Management. He has also provided consultancy services to many companies in the field of corporate governance, as well as accountancy training workshops to managers and employees of many institutions.
