Dr. Alanoud Al-Maadid, Head of the Department of Economics, Qatar University
I am honored to serve as the Head of the Department of Economics at Qatar University. In this role, I am committed to advancing our department’s mission of fostering academic excellence, nurturing future leaders in economics, and contributing to the economic development of Qatar and the wider region. My journey in academia, from obtaining a PhD in Economics and Finance to contributing significantly to economic research and education, has culminated in this opportunity to lead and inspire.
As the head of the department, I aim to build on our strengths in research and teaching, focusing on areas like Energy Economics, Behavioral Economics, and the dynamics of the GCC stock markets. I am particularly passionate about steering our research and curriculum towards addressing contemporary economic challenges and ensuring that our department remains at the forefront of economic thought and practice.
