Dr. Vladimir Kulikov is an Associate Professor of Linguistics specializing in Phonetics and Phonology. He received his Ph.D. in Linguistics from the University of Iowa in 2012 and his Candidate of Sciences degree in Germanic Linguistics from Moscow State Pedagogical University in 1997. Before joining the Department of English Literature and Linguistics at Qatar University, he worked at Tambov State University, Russia, and at the University of Iowa. His research interests are in the area of perception and production of voicing and emphasis in world’s languages. He has published works on phonetics of voicing and emphasis in Arabic and other languages in Journal of the IPA, Language and Speech, Phonetica, and Phonology. In 2023, he received the Qatar University Research Excellence Award in Humanities & Social Sciences.
