I am also the Civil Engineering Program Coordinator and Focal Person. I joined Qatar University in September 2013 as an Associate Professor. I was promoted to a Professor in October 2017. I worked between\u00a02007 and 2011 and between 2011 and 2013 at the United Arab Emirates University as Assistant Professor and then Associate Professor of Structural Engineering. Prior to this, I worked at the University\u00a0of Sherbrooke in Canada as a Research Professional between 2002 and 2007. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>I received my PhD from Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada, in 2002.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>My research\u00a0interests include:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Utilizing traditional\u00a0and advanced composite materials for the rehabilitation and strengthening of the civil infrastructure,<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Utilizing non-corrosive\u00a0metals such as aluminium for structural\u00a0purposes,<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Sustainable reinforced concrete construction using non-corrosive reinforcement,<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Utilizing waste, recycled, by-product materials for concrete construction, and<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Finite element modelling and numerical analysis of reinforced concrete structures.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;58&#8243; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221; style=&#8221;&#8221; border_color=&#8221;grey&#8221; img_link_large=&#8221;&#8221; img_link_target=&#8221;_self&#8221; css_animation=&#8221;&#8221; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row full_width=&#8221;&#8221; parallax=&#8221;&#8221; parallax_image=&#8221;&#8221;][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text] I am a Professor in the Department of Civil and\u00a0Architectural Engineering, Qatar University.
