Touria Bounnit, Ph.D. in Process and Bioprocess Engineering , is a Research Associate at the Centre for Sustainable Development, Qatar University with over 10 years of experience in microalgal biomass production for various applications. She joined Qatar University in 2011 as a Research Assistant for the Biofuel project funded by Qatar Airways, Qatar Science and Technology Park (QSTP), and Qatar University. Within this project, she had a key role in investigating the potential of local isolates for Biofuel production. Since 2015, she has been actively engaged as a Research Associate, contributing to multidisciplinary projects related to bioenergy, health, and environmental sustainability. Her research focuses on developing innovative protocols for biomass conversion into bioenergy and high-value bioproducts, including natural pigments and biopolymers. She has collaborated on numerous projects emphasizing the use of Qatar’s native microbial resources for economically viable and environmentally friendly applications. Dr. Bounnit has contributed to publications in high-impact Q1 and Q2 journals, participated in national and international conferences and workshops, and has also co-authored a book chapter on date palm biotechnology. In addition to her research, she is committed to academic mentorship and capacity building.
