Dr. Shahram Tahmasseby is a practicing licensed Civil Engineer (P.Eng.) having a variety of international expertise in traffic engineering and transportation planning, i.e. Travel behaviour Analysis, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Implementation, Rail Bound Transit Operation (Light rail transit), Dynamic Incident Management, Traffic and Road Safety, Urban Transport Networks Concept Design, Development Plan Review (DPR), Transportation Impact Study (TIS), Temporary Traffic Management (TTM), Public Transportation Appraisal, Peer-To-Peer Real-Time Ridesharing Applications, Mobility as-a-Service (MaaS), Emerging Transit Technologies, and Logistics and Freight Transportation Modeling and Analysis.

He contributed to several seminars and conferences related to various civil engineering, and transportation engineering e.g. Urban Transport, CITE, ITE, ETC, TRB, ITS World Congress, TAC, CSCE, NACTO.

He has more than 22 years of experience in academia and industry together with hands on in software such as HCS, Synchro Studio, SIDRA Solutions, EMME, PTV VISUM , PARAMICS, PTV VISSIM, TOMTOM Traffic Stats and Custom Area Analysis, and INRIX Analytics Tool.

He possesses a wide range of consultancy skills such as:

  • Advisory skills in developing relevant policies, procedures and controls in the context of ITS, transit oriented development (TOD), traffic demand management (TDM), road safety and the multimodal transportation network
  • Extensive municipal experience in Civil Engineering, OHS, Public Safety, and ITS
  • Knowledge of regional and municipal policies including purchasing by-law, council and committee reports, and employee/labour relations
  • Experience in working with both public and private sectors, (PFI) Private Finance Initiative programs, and PPP contracts
  • Experience in managing scope, schedule, and budget of projects, and task assignments
  • Expertise in preparation as well as assessment of RFIs, RFQs, RFPs, and other customer-generated requests
