She also is <\/em>Graduate <em>Faculty with Co-Supervisory Status in the Master of Arts in Gulf Studies Program at Qatar University since 2023.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\"><em>She&nbsp;joined&nbsp;QU in 2007. In 2003, she received her PHD in Communication from Ohio University in the United States. In 1997, she earned an MA in African Studies from Ohio University in the United States, as well as an MA in Women Studies from the Institute of Social Studies in The Hague, the Netherlands&nbsp;in 1995.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>She previously worked as an adjunct&nbsp;<\/em><em>professor<\/em><em>&nbsp;at the University of Kansas&#8217; William Allen White School of Journalism.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Dr. Saadia chaired the Department of Mass Communication (QU) from 2009 to 2011. During her tenure as department head, she worked to have the Mass Communication Program accredited by the respected Accrediting Council for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (ACEJMC). She co-founded the Advisory Board for the Department of Mass Communication with the College Dean.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Dr. Saadia research interests are: Global media ethics, women &amp; media, transnational migration &amp; identities, political communication, and popular culture. She has papers and chapter books published in\u00a0a number of\u00a0prominent journals and publishing companies\u00a0including\u00a0: International Journal of Communication, Media Culture and Society, Information, Communication and Society, Journalism &amp; Mass Communication Educator, Intellectual Discourse,\u00a0Diaspora Studies,\u00a0Routledge Publishing and\u00a0the\u00a0University of Carolina Press.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Saadia Malik serves as Principle Investigator: NPRP14C project titled:The Future of Digital Citizenship in Qatar: A Socio-Technical Approach. The four-year grant was awarded to Hamad Bin Khalifa University under QNRF\u2019s National Priorities Research Program &#8211; Cluster (NPRP-C), (2022-2028) ($3.8 million).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She also serves as a coordinator and Principle Investigator for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Regional Research Hub, Journalism Education and Trauma Research Group (JETREG), University of Lincoln, UK, since January 2022<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Dr. Saadia serves as an expert for GCC quality assurance institutions. She has been serving as a member and chair of&nbsp;several&nbsp;Bachelor and Master of Arts in Mass Communication program reviews and site visit teams.&nbsp;She also led workshops on quality assurance and accreditation competencies.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>She was a member of the Strategic Plan for Communication and Media Team of Qatar&#8217;s Supreme Council for Family Affairs. She was also a member of the Qatari Youth ICT Study Advisory Board, which was part of the Supreme Council for Information, Communication, and Technology (ICT Qatar).<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>She<\/em><em>&nbsp;is a member of a number of communication organizations, including the International Communication Association (ICA), the Association for Educators in Journalism and Mass Communication AEJMC, Women in Communication, the Arab-US Association of Communication Educators (AUSACE), and the European Communication Research and Education Organization (ECREA).<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>She has convened and chaired international conferences, including the first international conference (ICTMC) hosted by Qatar University&#8217;s Department of Mass Communication in 2011, as well as the organizing committee for the Arab-US Association of Communication Educators AUSACE 20th conference: Global Trends and Prospects in Mass Communication in 2015 and chairing the guest speaker session for the international conference on Social Media Networks and Ideological Polarization.
