Biography

Dr. Renju Zacharia is an assistant research professor at the Gas Processing Center, College of Engineering at the Qatar University, Qatar. He has more than 12 years of cross-disciplinary research experience on high surface area adsorbents specialized for gas storage, separation and purification and catalysis applications.

At Qatar University, Dr. Zacharia’s research focuses on 1) Multivalent composite oxides for carbon capture and conversion 2) Hydrogen production and 3) Resource-efficient alkane and olefin transformation.

Before joining the GPC, Dr. Zacharia has been leading the research on next-generation adsorption technologies for gas storage, separation and purification at the University of Quebec, Trois-Rivieres, Canada and at the Chonbuk National University, South Korea.  Dr. Zacharia received his Ph. D. from Fritz-Haber-Institut der Max-Planck Gesellschaft, Germany in 2004 under the guidance of Professor Gerhard Ertl (Nobel Laureate, 2007). He has contributed to the TASK 32 of the Hydrogen Implementing Agreement of International Energy Agency and also contributed to the US DOE’s “Recommended Best Practices for Characterizing Engineering Properties of Hydrogen Storage materials”. He serves as an Assistant Subject Editor of the International Journal of Hydrogen Energy.  He has authored more than 30 peer reviewed articles and a book chapter with a total of over 1000 citations.
