يتميز مقرر سيمينار السنة الأولى بتصميمه الفريد الداعم لطلبة السنة الدراسية الأولى خلال فترة انتقالهم إلى الحياة الجامعية، حيث يطور المقرر مهاراتهم وكفاياتهم اللازمة للنجاح الأكاديمي والتعلم مدى الحياة مثل المعرفة الرقمية، والتفكير الناقد والإبداعي، ومهارات التواصل. كما يتعلمون كيفية الاستفادة من مصادر الجامعة، بما في ذلك خدمات دعم الطلبة، والإرشاد الأكاديمي والمكتبة. ولتطوير مهاراتهم البحثية وتعزيز المواطنة المسؤولة لديهم، يعمل الطلبة بشكل تعاوني على مشاريع بحثية تُناقش قضايا ذات صلة بالمجتمع القطري

First Year Seminar is a signature course designed to support first-year students during their transition to Qatar University. The course develops students’ skills and competencies needed for academic success and lifelong learning, such as digital information literacy, critical and creative thinking, and communication skills. Besides, students learn how to use campus resources, including student support services, academic advising, and library resources. To develop their research skills and activate their role as responsible citizens, students work collaboratively on a research project that addresses a particular issue facing Qatari society.

مقرر التعلم القائم على الخدمة المجتمعية

Community Service-Learning (UNIV220)

التعلم القائم على الخدمة المجتمعية هو شكل من أشكال التعلّم التجريبي، الذي يدمج الدراسة الأكاديمية مع أنشطة خدمة المجتمع التفاعلية الهادفة المقرونة بالتفكير التأملي المنظم. ينخرط الطلبة في هذا المقرر فيما لا يقل عن 40 ساعة خدمة مجتمعية ميدانية بُغية تلبية احتياجات المجتمع المحلي واكتساب الشعور بالمسؤولية المدنية. يتعرف الطلبة من خلال المقرر على المفاهيم والسمات الأساسية للخدمة المجتمعية، وفوائدها والتحديات المرتبطة بها.  يزوِّد المقرر الطلبة بالمعارف والمهارات اللازمة للاستجابة لاحتياجات المجتمع المُلحّة، ويزيد من رغبتهم في الانخراط في العمل المجتمعي. سيقوم الطلبة بإنشاء ملف إنجاز إلكتروني يعرضون فيه تأملاتهم حول تجربتهم في الخدمة المجتمعية، مُبرزين مدى تأثير المشاركة المدنية على ذاتهم، والآخرين، والمجتمع من حوله

Community-Based Service Learning is a form of experiential learning that integrates academic study with purposeful, interactive community service activities combined with structured reflective thinking. Students in this course engage in at least 40 hours of field-based community service to meet local community needs and develop a sense of civic responsibility. Through the course, students learn about the fundamental concepts and key characteristics of community service, its benefits, and the challenges associated with it. The course provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to respond to urgent community needs and fosters a desire to engage in community work. Students will create an electronic portfolio where they reflect on their community service experience, highlighting the impact of civic engagement on themselves, others, and the community around them.
