He is a historian of Early Modern and Modern\u00a0Tunisia.\u00a0He obtained his first history degree\u00a0at\u00a0the University of Tunis\u00a0(<a href=\"http:\/\/www.fshst.rnu.tn\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"http:\/\/www.fshst.rnu.tn\/\">Facult\u00e9\u00a0des sciences\u00a0Humaines\u00a0et\u00a0Sociales\u00a0deTunis<\/a>)\u00a0where\u00a0he\u00a0also\u00a0obtained his PhD in 2009. Prior to joining\u00a0Qatar University, he was\u00a0an\u00a0associate professor at Qatar University (2020-2024) , <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uc.rnu.tn\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"http:\/\/www.uc.rnu.tn\/\">Sousse University<\/a> (2017-2020) and Assistant professor\u00a0(2012-2017).\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His research&nbsp;interests are mostly in the&nbsp;\u201cHistory of Mediterranean Economies and Societies\u201d&nbsp;with special emphasis&nbsp;on the social and diplomatic history of modern Tunisia, in particular,&nbsp;the&nbsp;18<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;and 19<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;centuries.&nbsp;His&nbsp;recent&nbsp;publications&nbsp;include,&nbsp;&nbsp;La correspondance de Jean Antoine&nbsp;Molinari, consul su\u00e9dois \u00e0 Tunis 1764-1778 (introduite et annot\u00e9e), Tunis, 2015\u202f;\u202f<em>Les marchands de la cour dans la r\u00e9gence de Tunis (fin\u202fxviii<\/em><em><sup>e<\/sup><\/em><em>-d\u00e9but\u202fxix<\/em><em><sup>e<\/sup><\/em><em>\u202fsi\u00e8cle)<\/em>, &nbsp;Tunis, 2017\u202f; \u00ab\u202f\u00c9tienne&nbsp;Famin, \u201ccharg\u00e9 d\u2019affaires am\u00e9ricain\u201d \u00e0 Tunis\u202f: entre enjeu identitaire et logique client\u00e9liste (fin\u202fxviii<sup>e<\/sup>-d\u00e9but\u202fxix<sup>e<\/sup>\u202fsi\u00e8cle)\u202f\u00bb,\u202f<em>Cahiers de la M\u00e9diterran\u00e9e<\/em>, n<sup>o<\/sup>\u202f94, 2017\u202f; (in&nbsp;colloboration&nbsp;with&nbsp;Hafedh&nbsp;Ben&nbsp;Hassine),&nbsp;<em>Le journal de&nbsp;Suleiman&nbsp;agha, envoy\u00e9 du bey de<\/em>&nbsp;<em>Tunis \u00e0 Paris en 1777<\/em>, Tunis, Dar Al Massira, 2020.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mehdi Jerad Mehdi Jerad is\u00a0a professor in modern history at\u00a0Qatar\u00a0University since 2024.
