Hatem Ibrahim is a Professor of Architecture and Urbanism at the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning at Qatar University.

He is a scholar and expert in the field of Urban and Regional Planning, with a particular focus on urban informatics, housing studies, regeneration strategies, and architectural identity. With extensive research experience, his work revolves around the intricate connections between urban development and various aspects of urban life. His recent research is the exploration of urban growth globalization, social equity, and sustainability in emerging metropolises. He delves into the complexities of urban dynamics, recognizing the unique opportunities and challenges that arise from rapid urbanization and industrialization. By investigating these multifaceted processes, he seeks to uncover strategies and approaches that promote inclusive and sustainable urban development. By merging theory and practice, he contributes to the understanding and improvement of urban environments, addressing pressing issues related to housing, regeneration, and architectural identity.

He has published numerous articles in reputable journals, presented his work at international conferences, and actively participated in collaborative research projects. He has attracted Research Grant funds and delivered research projects totaling more than $1.8 Million. In addition, he has served as a keynote speaker and technical program committee of many international conferences. Also, he is an Editorial Board member in many International Journals. He is a member of many educational organizations and served in many academic and research institution in UK, USA, Portugal, Saudi Arabia and Egypt.

He is a member of numbers of international scientific and educational organizations and served in many academic and research institutions in the UK (University of Liverpool), the US (California Polytechnic State-CalPoly), Saudi Arabia (King Saud University) and Egypt (Helwan University). He has been the recipient of several prestigious awards, including the “Outstanding Research Award” from  Qatar National Research Fund for his Undergraduate Research Experience Program funded project , and the golden medal and first prize from King Saud University for his academic achievement in 2008. He earned his Phil and PhD from the School of Architecture and Building Engineering at the University of Liverpool– UK.
