Dr. Hani Kamel is an Associate Professor of Accounting at Qatar University, with a distinguished academic and professional career focused on sustainability, corporate governance, and responsible management. He holds a PhD in Accounting and Finance from Cardiff Business School, Cardiff University (2006). His research interests span earnings quality, sustainability reporting, and the integration of ESG considerations into organizational performance and strategic decision-making.

Dr. Kamel currently serves as the Secretary and Coordinator of the MENA Business Schools Alliance for Sustainability (MEBAS) (2023–2026), a regional platform dedicated to advancing sustainability education and environmental stewardship across business schools in the MENA region. He is also the Co-Chair of the PRME Middle East Chapter (2025–2026), where he actively aligns academic initiatives with the Principles for Responsible Management Education to promote measurable societal impact.

Beyond academia, Dr. Kamel is actively engaged in executive education and capacity building. In March 2025, he served as a Training Facilitator for an Executive Module, delivering a professional course titled “Strategic Integration of Sustainability: Aligning Business Goals with ESG and GRI Standards” to 18 mid-level executives from Nigeria. The program was organized in partnership with Irachy Consult and Genesis Technologies, with post-training feedback indicating strong organizational uptake of ESG metrics and sustainability reporting practices.

Dr. Kamel is a Guest Editor for the special issue of Management & Sustainability: An Arab Review (2024–2026), where he contributes to shaping scholarly dialogue on sustainability challenges and innovations in emerging economies. He is also a long-standing Editorial Board Member of the International Journal of Business and Systems Research, supporting the advancement of interdisciplinary research.

His leadership experience includes chairing high-impact academic and professional events, such as the 2023 Asia-Pacific Management Accounting Association Webinar on sustainability challenges and opportunities, and moderating numerous regional and international sessions on sustainability strategy, corporate governance, and performance measurement.

At Qatar University, Dr. Kamel chairs the Sustainability Advancement Committee (2023–2026), overseeing initiatives that embed sustainability principles across business curricula and experiential learning activities. He has also served as a judge for the Qatar CSR Summit Awards (2024), evaluating impactful initiatives in environmental sustainability and agriculture.

With prior professional certification in GRI standards, Dr. Kamel continues to engage in regional and global sustainability initiatives through collaborations with the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the Global Business School Network (GBSN). His academic leadership, executive training experience, and community engagement collectively position him as a thought leader in sustainability and responsible management education, with a strong emphasis on practical impact and institutional change.
