Dr. Fatma holds a doctoral degree in Elementary Education (2011), a master’s degree in Elementary Science and Mathematics Education (2007), a bachelor degree in Elementary Mathematics Education (2004), from Middle East Technical University, Ankara, Turkey. She has been working at Qatar University, Core Curriculum Program (CCP) since 21 September 2016. Dr. Fatma is teaching the First Year Seminar Course for male and female sections in English. Until now, she has made significant contributions to the program including, but not limited to, proposing innovations for restructuring CCP learning outcome assessment system, developing a new mathematics course for non-science majors (MATH 105: Mathematics in Society), developing a new CCP course on Civic Engagement (UNIV 200: Innovation, Leadership and Civic Engagement), chairing the CCP Academic Program Review Committee, and taking core responsibilities in the CCP Committees.
Previously, she worked as a faculty member in Elementary Education Department, Mehmet Akif Ersoy University, Turkey. She was teaching pedagogy courses for pre-service teachers, doing research in mathematics education and teacher education. In addition, she has experience as a research assistant at Research Coordination Office at Middle East Technical University, and a multimedia content designer at a private e-learning company in Turkey.
Dr. Fatma has a high record of publications, including books, book chapter, journal papers, and conference proceedings. Her research interests includes STEM education (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics), problem solving, self-regulation, educational motivation, self-efficacy, goal orientation, anxiety, mathematics education, and pre-service teacher education.
