Dr. Fodil Fadli is an Architect and Assistant Professor of Architecture & Urban Design. He is the Acting Head of Department of Architecture & Urban Planning (DAUP), College of Engineering. He also serves as the DAUP Graduate Programs Coordinator. After graduating as an Architect from the Polytechnic School of Architecture & Urbanism EPAU-Algiers; Fodil successfully completed a PhD in Sustainable Architecture at the School of Design Technology, University of Huddersfield (UK). Dr. Fadli joined Qatar University in Fall 2010, moving from Liverpool University School of Architecture (UK).  Prior to that he has worked in several academic institutions, professional practices and industry mainly in Algeria, France, and the UK… This enabled him to gain extensive experiences both in academia and practice which helped him bridges the gap between theory and praxis in the fields of architectural and urban design. His teaching and research interests span sustainable architecture, architectural and urban design, sustainability assessment and modelling, building performance evaluation, environmental impact assessment (EIA), building information modelling (BIM), historic building restoration/conservation, digitizing heritage and design in motion (dynamic environment). He has published and presented his work in well-established journals and international conferences worldwide. Dr. Fadli is an expert reviewer for several highly reputed international journals, publishers and conferences. He also acts as an external examiner for some EU and UK universities. He is the recipient of several R&DI grants. During the last couple of years he managed to secure large research funds (circa. US$ 2.3 Million) of which the QNRF funded NPRP projects he is leading on Bio-Facades, Topology Optimization of High-Rise buildings and Critical Urban Buildings Emergency Preparedness.
