Engi El-Maghraby is a research projects manager at the Social and Economic Survey Research Institute (SESRI). She obtained her Honours Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Political Science from the University of Toronto (Canada) before commencing on her studies at the American University in Cairo to complete her Master of Arts in Political Science with a concentration in development studies. Her M.A. thesis was entitled, “Feminization of the informal sector in Egypt’s garment industry and market vendors”.
Before relocating to Qatar and joining SESRI in 2012, Mrs. El-Maghraby was working in the United Arab Emirates for the American University of Sharjah’s Student Development and Organizations department. She has previous working experience in Egypt and Canada where she worked on various research, administrative, volunteer and intern positions with the likes of the United Nations Development Program (Cairo), General Organization for Physical Planning (Cairo), the American University in Cairo and the University of Toronto.
Other than having experience in managing and implementing research projects, her research interests are focused on gendered labor issues and economic development policies.
