Dr. Charitha Dias is an Assistant Professor at the Qatar Transportation and Traffic Safety Center, and the Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering, College of Engineering, Qatar University. He received his master’s degree from The University of Tokyo (UTokyo), Japan, in 2007, and his Ph.D. degree from Monash University, Australia, in 2015. After completing the master’s degree, he worked as a transportation modeler at two reputed consultancy firms in Tokyo for around three and a half years. He worked as a Postdoctoral Project Researcher at the Institute of Industrial Science, UTokyo, from November 2015 until he moved to Qatar University. His research interests include pedestrian crowd dynamics, modeling and simulation, mixed traffic modeling and simulation, traffic safety, driver behavior, and intelligent transportation systems. While doing the Ph.D. degree, he received several awards including the Australian Road Research Board (ARRB)–Monash Transportation Research Prize, in 2013, and the Postgraduate Publication Award from the Department of Civil Engineering, Monash University, in 2014.
