I graduated as fisheries and aquaculture engineer from Tunisian National Institute of Agronomy in 1998. I obtained a Master in Biological Oceanography and Marine Environment in 1999 and I was awarded with highest honours a PhD in Environmental Sciences in 2003 both from Pierre &amp; Marie Curie University (Sorbonne Universities, Paris 6, France). I joined the Institute of Marine Sciences and Technologies (Tunisia) where I contributed to the establishment of the Seas National Observatory and I was representative to the UNESCO-IOC ODINAFRICA project. In 2004 I was appointed by UNESCO-BRESCE (Italy) to develop DSSs for the ecohydrological management of estuaries. In 2005 I joined the associate laboratory Centre of Marine Sciences \u2013 CCMAR (Portugal) as a postdoctoral fellow and recruited in 2006 as senior researcher specialist on coastal ecohydrology and integrated coastal zone management. I was from 2008 to 2012 Assistant Professor at the University of Algarve providing marine ecology and modelling related courses. I acted as Deputy Director of the UNESCO-International Centre for Coastal Ecohydrology from 2009 to 2013. I have been heavily engaged recently in Water and Bio-Energy related technology and knowledge transfer to the MENA region leading and co-leading several RTD projects in the region about Algae Biotechnology. Since joining Qatar University I was successful in attracting several funds to conduct research on coral artificial and natural reef ecology, zooplankton ecology, ocean acidification driven impacts on plankton communities, and most recently coordinating a task force at QU to address major three societal challenges in Qatar (Air Quality, Water and Food Security).<\/p>\n<p>I authored more than 110+ peer-reviewed publications in international journals and books. Supervised and co-supervised 16 MSc and 7 PhD students. I acted as the President of the regional GCC branch of the world largest professional society about Environment (SETAC) during 2013-2015. Founder and Vice-President of the International Society of Ecohydrology.
