Professor Al-Nakeeb joined the College of Education at Qatar University in December 2012 as a Consultant for Research and Accreditation. In September 2013, he was appointed as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. He has over 35 years of teaching, research and management experience at Universities in the UK and Internationally. During his tenure at Newman University, Birmingham, he served as Director of Research, Director of Graduate School, member of the University’s Senior Management Team, member of the Academic Board, Head of Sports Science Department, Associate Dean of School of Social Sciences and Humanities, Chair of Research Committee, Chair of Research Ethics Committee and Editor of the student journal ‘Critical Commentary’. He has an interdisciplinary research interest that spans over education, psychology and health, with special focus on young people’s lifestyle and health behaviours. He has authored and co-authored books, chapters, research papers in peer-reviewed academic journals, as well as making significant contributions in the form of keynote addresses and conference papers presentation in both academic and professional proceedings. In 2005, he was awarded the national ‘Fellowship’ by the Leadership Foundation for Higher Education in the United Kingdom for his leadership role in developing research at teaching intensive institutions. Professor Al-Nakeeb holds a PhD in Sports Psychology and an MA in Motor Learning from Birmingham University, a Postgraduate Certificate in Education from the University of Central England and a Bachelor degree from Baghdad University. He is an experienced Quality Assurance Agency (UK) subject specialist reviewer and a lead facilitator for the British Council workshops on quality assurance in Higher Education. He is an Emeritus Professor at Newman University, Birmingham, UK.
